Jacobus, Pennsylvania is a small borough located in southern York County. In regards to the hospital's location in Shrewsbury, Jacobus is a short 15 minute drive away and a straight shot up 83 North. The borough is small enough that it does not have its own exit off of the highway, so you must get off at the Loganville or Leader Heights exits, respectively.
Leader Heights has an abundance of dining options and gas stations available, a handful of which can be seen immediately as you exit 83. If you make a right off of the exit ramp and continue down Leader Heights road for about 2 miles, you will come into the town of Spry, Pennsylvania which also boasts a wide variety of restaurants including Starbucks, fast food, cafes, and diners.
To get to Jacobus from Leader Heights, you will need to make a left when getting off of the exit, drive down Leader Heights road a bit until you reach the light at the top of the hill, make a left there, and keep going. You will know you are on the way to Jacobus when you pass Lake Redman. Lake Redman is location within William H. Kain park. Here you can hike, go fishing, rent a canoe or kayak, watch your kids play on the playground, or play at the volleyball court.
While Jacobus doesn't have as many food options available, it does have three parks that are available to the public. These are Jacobus Community Park, Tot Lot, and Nature Park. The community park is the largest of the three and is host to many activities that are sure to help distract you from the stress of your pet's hospital visit. Both the Community Park and the Tot Lot have playgrounds for children. The Nature Park is slower-paced and intended more for use by those who like to walk and appreciate nature.
